Grown	Northeast, north and west China.
Source	Root of Lithospermum erythrorthizon Sieb.
Ingredients	Scetylshikonin, Alkannan
Pharma Effect	Has contraceptive effect. Also can stimulate heart and inhibit tumors.
Properties	Sweet, salty, cold
Channels	Heart, liver
Function	Cools and invigorates blood, relieves toxicity and vents rashes.
Clinic Usage	For measles with eruptions, ulcers and burns.
Cautions	This herb has a laxative effect. Not suitable in cases of spleen deficiency with loose stool.
Dosage	5~9g. Use proper amount for external application. Decoct until thick or soak in vegetable oil then apply to wounds.
Storage	Store in a clean, dry place.
