Source	Whole plant of Houtuynia cordata Thunb.
Ingredients	Volatile oil, Methyl-n-nonylketone, Myrcene
Pharma Effect	Has antiseptic, anti-viral, diuretic and analgesic properties.
Properties	Acrid, slightly cold
Channels	Lung
Function	Clears heat, relieves toxicity, dispels pus and has diuretic properties.
Clinic Usage	For blood expectoration with pus due to pulmonary abscess, expectoration of phlegm with pus, ulcers due to toxic heat, strangury due to heat and painful or difficult urination.
Cautions
Dosage	15~25g. Do not cook for extended time. Double the dosage if fresh herb is used. Decoct with water or extract the juice. Use proper amount for external application. Smash the herb then apply to wounds or rinse the wounds with herb decoctions.
Storage	Store in a cool, dry place.
