| Function | Nourishes spleen and stomach, dries dampness, harmonizes the middle, stops diarrhea and sweating. It is also diuretic. |
| Clinic Usage | For indigestion, lack of appetite, fatigue, short of breath, a sensation of distention, diarrhea, edema, water retention in stomach, jaundice, numbness due to dampness, urinary difficulties, dizziness, spontaneous sweating and restless fetus. |
| Cautions | Contraindicated in cases of thirst due to yin deficiency or a stifling sensation due to stagnant qi. |
