Pharma Effect
Properties	Acrid, bitter, strong cold
Channels	Lung, bladder
Function	Drains lung qi, alleviates water retention, reduces edema, dispels phlegm, alleviates coughing, calms wheezing, drains dampness in lung and bladder.
Clinic Usage	For wheezing due to irregular lung qi, coughing due to phlegm retention, edema and distention. (Use sweet seeds for wheezing due to heat in lung, and bitter ones to drain water.)
Cautions	Contraindicated in cases of coughing and wheezing due to lung deficiency, or distended, deficient spleen.
Dosage	3~9g. Place in a cheesecloth bag before decocting.
Storage	Store in a dry, well-ventilated place. Avoid dampness and infestation by worms.
